Cycling Events
Known in the cycling world as the “Queen of the Classics,” The Tour of the Battenkill is one of the largest single-day cycling events in the country, attracting 1,500 riders each May. The event is famous for its challenging course that winds through the pastoral hills of upstate New York. The Tour of Battenkill offers three distances: a 75-mile Gran Fondo, a 42-mile Medio Fondo, and a 26-mile Piccolo Fondo.
The largest week-long supported bicycle ride in the world with more than 15,000 riders, the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, RAGBRAI, is ‘America’s Greatest Bicycle Ride’, traveling across Iowa over 7 days each July. Small towns, local food, rolling Iowa farmland, and live entertainment each evening are what have made RAGBRAI an annual tradition for bicyclists worldwide since 1973.
